Mortimer Trails to Shrewsbury
We had an early wake up time but a late start to the day was we had a lovely chat with the woman who ran the Air BNB. It was a beautiful sunny day as we rode through the countryside past yet more sheep, cows and cute villages. We stopped at a church where the ladies were arranging flowers for the harvest service at the church. They took us up to the choir stalls and showed us the carved chairs for the guilds, butchers, ale house, musicians and the lovely stained glass.
We began to see more and more timber framed houses and timber framed churches all decked with hanging flower baskets.
As we came into Shrewsbury we saw girls rowing on the river, timber framed buildings, and abbey cathedral, church and English bridge. We checked into an Air BnB as it was one of the few places left to stay in Shrewsbury. The Air BnB had tons of dogs and a very friendly host. We walked to the local chippy for dinner and found a Grieg and so treated ourselves to doughnuts.
Weekend Booking
We found booking three days ahead is often the best timing. Weekends can be tricky to find a room, especially if the weather is nice.
