Athens

Athens

Upon arrival, we were greeted by Stenen, who assisted us in transporting our bikes to our accommodation. Despite the rainy weather on our first day, we wasted no time in exploring the iconic Parthenon, where we were awed by its grandeur and the rich history that surrounded us. The Parthenon Museum provided further insight into the ancient artifacts and sculptures that once adorned this magnificent structure, offering a glimpse into the lives of those who lived centuries ago.

The following day, we embarked on a walking tour of Athens, guided by Rick Steves’ recommendations. Our journey took us through the bustling streets of Athens, where we marveled at the distinct architecture of Orthodox churches and learned about the city’s rich cultural heritage. After a satisfying lunch at a local eatery, we took care of logistical matters, such as storing our bike box at a nearby shop and gathering valuable insights from the owner on cycling routes in the Peloponnese region.

Our final day in Athens began with a visit to our favorite breakfast spot, where we indulged in delicious omelettes and fresh orange juice to fuel our adventures. Continuing our exploration of the city, we savored the sights and sounds of Athens, from its historic landmarks to its vibrant streets. As the day drew to a close, we reflected on our time in Athens, grateful for the experiences and memories we had created in this ancient city.

Give a man a fish and feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and feed him for a lifetime. Teach a man to cycle and he will realize fishing is stupid and boring.
