This is a very beautiful place to visit, filled with art, history and culture throughout the city. It’s also a very walkable and bike friendly place. Just northeast of here is Girona, one the major cycle destinations in the world and a training spot for professional cyclists. Before heading out on any bike tour, we like to take some time to overcome jet lag and explore the local sites, experience the culture, and have some good food. We also put the bikes together and visit a bike shop if we need anything. Then the rest of the time we spent enjoying Barcelona.
140 Years in the Making - 2026 Completion Target
La Sagrada Familia will be completed soon. The winged Evangelists, John on the left and Luke on the right side of the center tower, have been placed, as well as the star of Bethlehem atop Mary's tower to the right. Next, a big cross will be set atop the central tower, appropriately named the Jesus Tower.
Like Rainbows in the Air
La Sagrada Familia, Antonio Gaudi's crowning achievement. He says you can't improve upon God's handiwork, and his designs are heavily influence by nature. The columns like trees reaching to the sky while sun-drenched colors fill the limbs with foliage of light.
La Sagrada Familia Forest Canopy
Massive trunks of stones support the cathedral. He didn't want buttresses so he built models of string arches pulled down with weights. Then he inverted the resulting model to make these canopies. Reminiscent of walking through a forest of redwoods
Palau Güell stands out as our favorite among Antonio Gaudí's masterpieces.
Every detail of this majestic residence is meticulously planned. Despite its vast size and grandeur, it exudes a remarkable charm and thoughtful design, ensuring easy comfort for the Güell family who resided here.
Palau Güell - Focused on Music and Art
Ascending another level, as depicted here, you would find the orchestra positioned to accompany the enchanting organ music. Continuing upward, on occasion, singers grace the space, evoking the imagery of angels singing from the lofty heights above. The Güell family centered their life around music and the arts.
Palau Güell - Grandiose yet Livable.
The living spaces and dining areas are positioned near the central hub of Palau Güell, this impressive concert and organ hall. Upstairs, nestled to the sides, are the bedrooms, each featuring delightful nooks that provide views of concerts and services.
Barcelona Street Art
The town is filled with artistic buildings, government and business sponsored art, and street art from the masses expressing themselves. Really enjoyable time walking the streets and back alleys, delightful surprises around every corner.
