Getting Bikes & Gear to Milan

Getting Bikes & Gear to Milan

The plan was fairly straightforward, start in Milan, travel eastward across Italy then head north until almost Austria then make our way to Ljubljana, Slovenia, and drop southeast through Istria and make our way down the Croatian coast to Dubrovnik. If things go well, perhaps we continue to Greece. Alas, like Odysseus, so many unpredictable factors, Covid, weather, fate, we barely touched it to Slovenia and once we arrived in Pula, Croatia all the ferries closed so we pivoted, cycling back to Italy and eventually ending up in Rome, Naples, Pompei, and the most amazing week from Sorento along the Amalfi coast.

There is some preparation involved with every trip. Planning the route, deciding on what to take, packing up the bikes, figuring out how to get to the from the airport to the first night accommodations. (We have some more details in our Tips section covering what we do in preparation) For this trip we both added new phone mounts, Grace added a new mirror and I replaced my handlebars.
