Padua to Lido di Jesolo

Ate yogurt and granola this morning then headed out to the Scrovegni Chapel.

Walked to the chapel and were early so we chatted with another American couple form Hawaii.

Then it was our turn to join. We watched a short film about the chapel in a room (climate controls) attached to the chapel.

Then we were allowed to go in for 15 minutes.

The chapel is stunning. The colors and facial expressions and moving panels. The storytelling was perfect.

Went back to the room and packed up to leave. Our laundry was still wet. So we stopped at a laundry mat and dried the laundry for 20 minutest.

While the dryer was drying I walked down to a market an picked up food for lunch toady.

We rode on I1 through the countryside and small towns.

We saw a German couple who were a little lost. So we had them follow us until they pulled off in a village for a break and lunch.

We rode on past a canal and a neighborhood of abandoned villas. They had stripped poles in the water for boats to dock.

We stopped at a bench near a little tobacco shop. They owner was just stepping out. We sat on the bench and had  fociccan, chiops and cookies.

Then we rode through a more industrial area towards the harbor.

Followed the route perfectly and we arrived at the ticket office for the ferry.

We bought ferry tickets and took the ferry past Venice. We met a couple from the Netherland who are also traveling by bikes. We chatted with then about some of their rides.

We snapped photos as we passed St Mark’s Square.

We docked and then had to get another boat to get to our next section of riding. We had trouble finding the correct dock to transfer boats. They just keep telling us to go to #14 but we could not find any numbers on any of the docks. We finally spike to some random fisherman. They told  us where to go and we caught the bad with 4 minutes to spare.

We docked and rode a very nice bike path through many holiday towns and campgrounds.

Arrived at nice hotel parked bike in shed at back of hotel

Ate dinner of salmon salad fries and huge seafood pasta.

For me, the bicycle is just as good a place as any to find happiness and get a glimpse of the world’s magic.Fatty, Fat Cyclist Blog
