We’re gearing up for an unforgettable adventure, starting from Barcelona and traversing the scenic French Riviera, stopping by Monaco, and making our way to Milan. From there, we’ll conquer the majestic Swiss Alps, reaching Andrematt before descending through picturesque landscapes for the next few weeks along the Rhine River, culminating our journey in Amsterdam

Embarking from Athens, our five-week cycling odyssey led us through the enchanting Greek islands, each offering its own unique charm and beauty. As we traversed a mosaic of ancient ruins, azure coastlines, and quaint villages, we delighted in the culinary delights of Greece, indulging in fresh seafood, flavorful olive oil, aromatic herbs, locally grown produce, and artisanal cheeses. Immersed in the rich history, stunning scenery, and warm hospitality of Greece, we departed with not only cherished memories but also a newfound appreciation for the country’s gastronomic treasures.

Our cycling journey began in Milan, winding through the picturesque landscapes of northern Italy, with occasional detours into the charming countryside of Croatia and Slovenia. LEJOG - Land's End to John O'Groats

Embarking on the iconic Lands End to John O’Groats cycling route, we conquered over 1000 miles, encountering steep climbs, historic landmarks, and warm hospitality. From exploring Cornwall’s enigmatic stone circles to delving into Orkney’s ancient Skara Brae, was like traveling back through time.

Surprisingly, there are a good assortment of rides available on Maui. Above average rainfall this winter got us itching to go somewhere nice to ride so when offers of discount tickets to Hawaii came to our attention we packed up our bikes and went to the Islands.

A 19th-century feat of engineering created a great canal system in Southern France, connecting the Mediterranean Sea with the Atlantic Ocean. With France’s avid cycling culture, much of this scenic route offers cyclist-friendly paths. During our journey, we ventured along the canal, passing through charming towns like Carcassonne and Narbonne. We also took a northern detour to explore picturesque destinations such as Albi, Rocamadour, Najac, and Figeac, before making our way to Bordeaux.

Our first epic bike ride marked the beginning of it all. Despite our lack of experience, we meticulously planned every detail in advance. Along the way, we encountered challenges and made mistakes, but like many epic adventures, we remained flexible and embraced the journey. Note: We would embark on this adventure again in a heartbeat.

You can find great places in your own backyard. Fortunately for us we live in the Santa Cruz mountains and our stomping grounds extend a couple hundred miles in all directions. Some of our favorites include Big Basin Loop, Pescadero, Monterrey, San Francisco, Marin and most anywhere along the Pacific Coast on highway 1.Â
