Tyndrum to Fort William

Best Day Ever!

Today we rode through Glen Coe with spectacular scenery around every corner. We had a gentle climbs up and nice rides down. The day began clear and sunny but around noon it suddenly became overcast and started raining. We put on all of our rain gear as the rain was really pouring. We turned off of the main road and there was a pub open for lunch. So we parked our bikes outside and took off all of our rain gear to have delicious lunch of a smoked salmon sandwich and haggis and neeps. next to a roaring fire. After lunch the rain let up so we headed down the road towards Fort William. The owner of the Air BnB put our bikes in his garage and showed us our perfect room. We asked if we could book another night but, sadly this was the last day of the season for the Air BnB. We rode our bikes into town and grabbed a delicious meal at a local pub. We check out the train schedule to see if we could take the Harry Potter train but we don’t think it will work out. So we headed back to our room and slept well.

Glencoe

Great climb out of Tyndrum.

Grace didn’t have her brakes on (fixed yesterday) so she was sprinting rather well. When I turn around to see where she is, there she is, right behind me. Cue Police, “I’ll be watching you”

Glencoe was another world. Up on top was relatively flat and moorish. Reminded me of Alaska-Wyoming mix.

Glencoe Valley was magnificent. Rolling down through glorious landscape and water on both sides of us, very nice. At the bottom of the valley is a cycle path (single track multi use?) and that’s where we were when the rain started. Put on all our rain gear, and a few minutes of riding in the rain we came upon a nice little inn/tavern/pub. Went in and have some of the best food we’ve had on this trip. The came out, the rain was letting up, and off we went towards Fort William. Interesting and beautiful geological rocks, lochs, hills, etc.

Sunshine came out for the end of the ride. Nice.
