Tarvisio to Adegliacco

Today was a glorious day.

Huge breakfast at the hotel,

Cold morning rode with jacket and hat.

Climbed up to the rail trail. Steep hills.

Then began the downhill descent.

Cows with bells.

Files of fall crocuses.

Stumning mountains

Beautiful vistas

Tunnels

some short

some medium but well lit.

some very long and well lit.

two were very long with sporadic lighting. It was a bit scary to be in complete darkness just hoping you were going straight.

3 bikers passed us in one of these tunnels which were frightening.

Out then we followed them in the next tunnel and could see their tail lights. They also triggered the lights to come on a little bit before we got there so we were only in th edark for a few minutes.

We followed water for most o the day . The water was crystal clear with turquoise tint. In most places there was not a lot of water but you could see that in the spring there must be a lot of water rushing through

Wee saw a lot of cyclists. Most of them were Austrian or Italian.

We snacked along the way on cookies and leftover breakfast the hotel had packed for us.

As we came down the mountain we went to a little village of Trevisio. It was charming with a wall around the city a beautiful pizza and a nice church. The church was damaged in an earthquake in 1976.

There was also a small round building that contained mummified bodies they found while excavating the church. The bodies were coved in some type of mold that preserved them.

We rode up some steep hills and down even more,

Stopped on a cement wall and looked around for ???

Rode through more villages until we arrived at our hotel.

Hotel was  an agrituruim hotel. Today they harvested the grapes so when we arrived they had just pulled up with a large wagon full of grapes. The whole family was happy to unload the grapes.

We showered and relaxed until dinner.

We went to an all you can eat shush restaurant which was delicious but we are very full.

Rode our bikes back to the hotel and are ready to crash.
